Scholarships for extra curricular activities

With schools being fully funded in New Zealand, children can pursue their basic education rights with little to no challenges. However, the same cannot be said for extracurricular activities. Many children, especially those who experience financial struggles or come from underprivileged backgrounds, are often unable to pursue the learning or education programmes and opportunities they desire outside of school.

At The Red Bow, we want to provide every child the chance to lean into their big ideas and dreams so they can follow their passions within or beyond the classroom.

We collaborate directly with local communities as well as learning and training centres to fund extracurricular activities for children.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

At The Red Bow, we are committed to making sure children have the opportunity to pursue extracurricular activities.

Here are some examples of what The Red Bow fund:

  • Dance lessons, music lessons, painting lessons, etc.
All of which include uniforms/required clothing, equipment and transport costs if any.

  • Sports training, rugby lessons, tennis training, rowing club fees, etc.
All of which include uniforms/required clothing and transport costs, if any.

You can apply for a scholarship if:

  • Your child is aged between 5 to 18 years and is a New Zealand resident.

  • Your child is passionate about the activity you are seeking funding for and is already actively pursuing it in their free time.

  • You are financially unable to cover these costs. (You will need to provide evidence.)

How it Works

  1. Families or guardians that wish to apply for the scholarship will need to fill out the expression of interest form.

  2. The Red Bow will review the expression of interest application. If you are successful, you will be invited to apply for funding. This is when you provide the required documentation.

  3. The funding application will be sent to The Red Bow for review. If something is missing, we will contact you to let you know.

  4. After receiving all the requested information, we will assess your application and communicate the outcome to you directly.

  5. If you are successful in securing a scholarship for your child, we will request an invoice directly from the learning or training centre where your child will be attending.

  6. We will pay the learning or training centre directly, and your child can then begin their extracurricular journey!
